We start for a query received from Ricardo of Monterrey, who wanted to know the working temperature of PVC hygienic profiles.

WHAT IS PVC SANITARY PROFILES?

Polyvinyl chloride, abbreviated PVC, is a synthetic plastic polymer that is extruded to become PVC Sanitary Profiles (also called PVC Hygienic Profiles). The primary purpose of PVC profiles is to protect and preserve cold rooms and panels by preventing of accumulation of dirt and bacterias in the industrial spaces, particularly in the corners, allowing easy cleaning of the walls and the floor.

WHY IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE WORKING TEMPERATURE OF PVC SANITARY PROFILES?

PVC is a temperature-sensitive material. PVC sanitary profiles can work adequately form -20C to +50C. What happens when we install them in a blast freezer that goes down to -30C? PVC hygienic profiles as the coving profile CO100, which come in 4 meters bar, will shrink a bit, losing a few millimeters of length. It will also become harder and less flexible, therefore increasing the breaking point.

CAN I INSTALL PVC SANITARY PROFILES IN AN INTENSIVE HUMID ENVIRONMENT?

Yes, you can. Our PVC Sanitary profiles, both skirting PVC profiles, and Coving PVC profiles are especially suitable to withstand the most aggressive environment, as a cheese curing chamber or a tannery.

CAN I INSTALL PVC SANITARY PROFILES IN A TROPICAL ENVIRONMENT?

PVC hygienic profiles are perfect for withstanding extreme humidity.

CAN I INSTALL PVC SANITARY  PROFILES IN A BAKERY OR NEAR AN OVEN?

Yes, you can. Our PVC Sanitary profiles are perfect for that application. What happens if the temperature overcomes 50C? PVC will soften if the temperature rises over the 50-60 degrees C. If the temperature is much higher, PVC will melt.

WHAT IF I LEAVE PVC HYGIENIC PROFILES UNDER THE DIRECT SUN?

If you leave PVC hygienic profiles under the sun for a few days, we have likely damaged the inner structure of PVC molecules, and it will lose its rigidity.
