OVERVIEW OF THE SANDWICH PANEL PRICE IN JULY 2021
We have received many inquiries regarding the July 2021 price update from customers around the world. Most of them have acknowledged the previous price hike and were quite ready for the new coming increase. A few are still hoping that this bubble could end and that the 2020 price situation could come back. It won’t, anytime soon.
REASONS FOR THE INSULATED METAL PANEL PRICE INCREASE
Let’s see which are the reasons that are driving the insulated metal panel price upwards.
- Increased demand for thermal insulation: The construction season has started in Europe and the USA, and the demand for thermal insulation for civil construction is at an all-time high.
- Scarcity of PIR and PUR foam: the increased demand for thermal insulation has exacerbated the lack of PIR and PUR foam components, thus driving the insulated metal panels prices high. Many factories have suspended the price lists for high-thickness panels for refrigeration. And they quote every inquiry depending on the availability of PUR and PIR foams in the market. Many chemical plants closed last year due to Covid-19 pandemics. The global production capacity has not resumed entirely yet, leaving a gap in the offer. Consequently, driven the prices to increase.
- Lack of steel: like the insulating foam, the steel mills’ production lines froze their production in 2020. Mills’ delivery time is 5-6 months from the order at the time being, and at prices that are about 100% more expensive than in 2020.
- Trasport: both truck and marine shipping are experiencing price hikes up to 1000% compared to 2020, which causes a substantial increase in the end price of the insulated metal panel and longer delivery times.
Customers are asking us every day what kind of scenario do we expect to happen. We strongly recommend ordering immediately, if you need to be delivered before the end of August. Currently, the production lines are saturating quickly.
