Condensation Cold - Room Floor

How to Avoid Condensation Below a Cold-Room Floor?

HOW TO MAINTAIN DRY THE FLOOR OF A COLD-ROOM?

We all know that when we install a freezer cold-room, the temperature inside the cold-room may cause condensation on the floor. It happens more often if the climate is warm and wet. In this blog post, we will shed light on what causes condensation and we will give a solution on how to avoid condensation below the cold – room floor using PVC profiles for the ventilation of the cold – room.

WHAT  CAUSES CONDENSATION AND WHY?

Even if we place the insulation correctly, it can happen. Why?

We know that cold-rooms, once they start operating, can experience heavy-duty use. That, for example, can create dilatation of the joints that may develop long terms leaks. If the cold room lays directly on the building floor, those leaks can create condensation and water dripping.

REAL CASE OF OUR CUSTOMER

Mr. Van Gaal, a customer of ours in St. Marteens, contacted us to solve the problem. He had a cold-room that he bought a few years earlier that started leaking water. When inspected, the cold-room walls were ok. The floor was also ok. Mr. Van Gaal said that he used to carry goods by hand when he bought the cold-room, but now sometimes uses a light fork-lift to move frozen goods in and out. He assumes that the cold-room floor started to dilate when the weight of the goods stored increased.

QUICK SOLUTION WITH NO NEED TO REPAIR THE FLOOR

We assured Mr.Van Gaal that the solution was quicker than he thought, no needs to repair the floor. So, we suggested using our PVC profiles for the ventilation of the cold-room floor, the models CA40 and CA70.

PVC PROFILES FOR THE VENTILATION OF COLD – ROOMS

What exactly are PVC profiles for the ventilation of cold-rooms? The PVC profiles for ventilation CA40 and CA70 are 4 meters bars that have an alveolar structure. They are robust and can withstand heavy loads. The installer has to place CA40 and CA70 below the cold-room floor, and they will allow ventilation and prevent condensation or air dripping.

Plus, the PVC is clean and will not attract bacterias or parasites, so can last a long time, without the need of maintenance or replacing.
