HOW TO RENEW A COLD-ROOM OR A PROCESSING ROOM? 

How to renew a panel wall and make it look new and hygienic is a question we hear frequently.

There are different methods of renewing a cold-room. Today we will focus on one specific way to renew an insulated metal panel wall or ceiling that compose a cold-room or a processing room.

The main issue with wall operating life is that the pre-painted metal face often loses its integrity over the years, while thermal insulation does not. When that happens, our cold room will not be hygienic anymore, and we will have to refurbish it if we want our business to continue. That means that our cold-room wall and ceiling will look old and rusty, but actually, their inner insulation core will be acceptable.

At that point, the processing room owner or the cold-room will face a critical choice: remove the insulated panels and place new ones or try to fix the appearance of the existing walls and ceilings.

We will often choose either one depending on the capital that we decide to allocate to the renewal: replacing the insulated panels is more expensive than applying a new layer on the existing face.

We can apply a PVC panel, clean, thin, and easy to install over the existing wall. PVC panels are boards of PVC that provide a basic insulation level, thanks to its core of foam or air gap. They have a flat and smooth finishing. They can interlock with each other and hide the rivets that anchor them to the existing walls. The result is a stunning new wall and ceiling, in a few hours of work. And the most important, with no need to dismantle the existing walls insulated panels.

Let’s see how it works: firstly, make sure to clean the underlying walls properly.

Secondly, make the surface as even as possible.

Thirdly, decide if you want to use rivets or adhesive to bond the PVC panels to the existing walls.

Fourthly, add finishing profiles to seal corners.

Finally, you are done renewing your existing cold room or processing room.

As a result, your walls and ceilings look brand new and hygienic.
